Franchise movie-making is the thumping heart of Hollywood at the moment, and if there’s anyone who has been there, done that, it’s Ewan McGregor.

It has been well over two decades since the Scottish actor debuted in the Star Wars universe, portraying the fan-favorite character of Obi-Wan Kenobi. He has made his appearance in the DC universe as well, playing the antagonist Roman Sionis in Margot Robbie-led Birds of Prey.

The next obvious step to complete the holy trifecta would be to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Ewan McGregor cleared the air on that matter at a Fan Expo Boston panel. Speaking to Liam Crowley of ComicBook.com, he said that wasn’t ruled out the possibility of it, but made it clear that he was in no rush to bag a role in the MCU.

“I don’t know. I don’t know that I want to do that. Because I love doing all different kinds of work. It’s true. I love to direct. I’d like to be in the theater again. I definitely want to do this again, you know, I’m in this Star Wars world. I feel like I don’t need another… I’m not looking for that anyway. I feel like I shouldn’t say I wouldn’t do it because in two years time you’ll be like, ‘You said you were never going to do this!’ But I’m not looking for it particularly.”

McGregor possibly slighted the practice of piracy as well on the panel, emphasizing on Disney and Lucasfilm’s efforts to bring forth the best fan experience.

“I think it’s really cool that Disney and Lucasfilm care so much for the fan experience. They really want you to have a 100% experience the first time you see it, and if you’ve read that, and that leaked, and this came out, it’s just a bit of a shame isn’t it? It’s like looking at your Christmas presents before Christmas Day.”

Ewan McGregor had a close brush with MCU before, when he was one of the frontrunners to play Doctor Stephen Strange before Benedict Cumberbatch made the role his own.

Speaking to MTV at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival, McGregor revealed that he was intrigued by the idea of playing a superhero character, but wasn’t too disheartened about losing out.
